Overview:

Time is often a critical component in our projects as we use it to drive animation, control user input events, provide feedback to users, and so much more. There are lots of ways to work with time in TouchDesigner, but we’ll start by taking a closer look at the Timer CHOP to see how we can leverage its features for some common use cases we may face. These examples look at how the Timer CHOP can provide feedback that drives state, i.e. is a timer in standby, is it running, or has it completed.

Additionally, we’ll look at how a Timer CHOP can be used to loop for a fixed number of sequences, for an infinite number of sequences, or loop until there’s some triggering event that will complete a currently running loop. It’s important to have a strong understanding of working with Time, and the Timer CHOP has applications across countless types of projects.
