Overview:

Component Operators are a class of Operator in TouchDesigner that can hold other networks. For this reason it is often useful to use COMPs as tools for organizing your networks. 

Container COMPs, unlike 3D Object COMPs, generate a 2D panel. Panels in TouchDesigner are a 2D clickable area that are used for User Interfaces. Containers might be used to organize user interfaces, or other output elements that have a layout relationship that needs to be maintained.
