Just like we might use CHOPs to animate images in TOPs, we can also use CHOPs to animate our geometry in TouchDesigner. When thinking about where to perform transformation, we most often want to apply translation, rotation and scale to our Geometry COMPs. The Transform SOP will perform its transform operations on the CPU, while doing the same transform operations on the Geometry COMP will do it on the GPU, which is much faster. This may feel like a subtle difference, but it can have a large impact on the efficiency of your real time rendered scene.
